The song title has several meanings, all surrounding the idea that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. In binary, the equation brings together the only two existing states, everything and nothing, to form a measurably higher value. In decimal, the lowest possible integer and zero bypass the usual addition logic to give a result of 10, a number with special significance for humans. It can also be seen as a joining of the two most elemental systems, linear and cyclical; the one representing a line and zero representing a loop.
